Flatbed Truck Beds

If you have a flatbed truck and are looking for a new bed, or you want to add a new bed to your existing truck, you have found the right site.  You can learn about the different types of flatbed beds and the advantages and disadvantages of each. 

Flatbed truck beds come in many sizes and designs.  If you want to add a flatbed to your pickup truck, you can buy an aluminum flatbed that is light weight and can handle a heavy load.  If you have a heavy duty truck, you can add a steel flat bed which is heavier, but will provide greater protection against damage.

If you purchase a steel truck bed, you should look for one made out of 12 gauge steel some companies will use lighter gauge steel, but I recommend going with 12 gauge or greater.  Be sure the bed contains a mesh window built in bulkhead to allow for easy viewing through your rearview mirror.  This will also protect the rear window from being broken.

The picture above shows an aluminum flatbed truck bed that can easily be installed on most newer pickup trucks.  The aluminum flatbeds are more expensive than a steel flatbed, but they weigh a lot less, and you can therefore carry more cargo.  You also don't need to worry about paint flaking off and the bed rusting.

The image to the right shows steel flatbed truck beds that can be adding to most pickup trucks.  You can purchase these flatbeds from many manufacturers, and installation can be arranged on your truck.

If you don't have a truck to install a flat bed on, and you don't want to buy a new flatbed truck, another option is a gooseneck flatbed trailer.  These trailers tow great, and they can carry more weight than a traditional flatbed trailer.  They do cost more than a normal flat bed trailer, but they don't sway and they are easier to connect to a truck.
